his mod includes .ini files and details on how to make static versions
of all of the stock aircraft in SFP1, to populate your airfields.
[Credits]
Many thanks to TK for providing the originals as part of SFP1. If there
are any problems with these mods then please contact me directly, not
ThirdWire. Thanks.
[Light and Heavy Statics]
There are two versions of the stock statics included here: light statics
and heavy statics.
Light statics are represented by all friendly aircraft in the game and
these are extremely stripped down versions of the originals. A light
static should not hit your FPS as much as an original flyable one.
Heavy statics, which I sometimes call \'Touchable\'* statics, contain the
minimum changes necessary to make them static. These statics can be
destroyed by the weapons in the game, including cannon fire. They are
ideal for use on enemy airfields as part of strafing missions.
Therefore, heavy statics represent all of the enemy aircraft in the
game.
*Remember the scene in the 1987 film Untouchables, when the guy gets
wasted in the lift? Touchable. Get it?!
[Installation Instructions]
1. Make a copy of the stock aircraft that you want to make into a
static.
2. Rename the new folder by deleting the \"Copy of\" text and appending
\"_static\" to the end of the aircraft\'s name. For example, \"Copy of F-4D\"
becomes \"F-4D_static\".
3. Open the new _static folder and delete the cockpit folder and all of
the individual files within, such as in the .ini and .bmp files. DO NOT
delete the folders containing the textures. For example, for the
F-4D_static leave the USAFGrey1 and USAFtan1 folders.
4. Delete the original aircraft .ini and _DATA.ini files. For example,
delete the F-4D.ini and F-4D_data.ini files.
5. Drop in the new replacement .ini files that I have supplied for that
particular aircraft. For example, drop the F-4D_static.ini and
F-4D_static_DATA.ini files into the F-4D_static folder.
6. For prop aircraft there\'s one more task, required to make the props
appear stationary. Copy the newly supplied PROPDISCx.TGA files into the
appropriate Texture folder inside the static aircraft folder. For
example, for the O-1E_static, copy the propdisc2.tga file into the
\'USAFWhite1\' folder inside the O-1E_static folder, overwriting the
existing .tga file. This new .tga replaces the stock one with a
non-blurred version, that is used to static the prop.
[Sample Statics Display Mission]
I\'ve included a sample mission file _Stock SFP1 Static Lineup.msn for you
to see each Static in the game and get some idea how you display and
position them.
That\'s it. You can now reference this static in any missions you create.
Cheers, kind regards, P.T (comrpnt). :-)
[Notes on Headings]
The game engine will sometimes snap the heading of a static aircraft
approx 25 degrees from where you specify, offset from the main four
points of the compass. For example, Heading=270 becomes 303 when the
game starts, despite the definition in the .msn file. This is
particularly true of Heavy statics. This is due to the AI behaviour
treating the static as if it is on the runway. At this time there is no
known fix for this bug. Some aircraft do it and some don\'t, and some
aircraft only do it at certain airfields. Light statics are less prone
to this behaviour -- possibly due to the limited amount of data defined
in their data .ini which the AI in the game has to work with. |
