SimHQ上放出新的LOFC3评测(10月16日)

Flaming Cliffs 3
by Chris "BeachAV8R" Frishmuth

This preview article is based on a beta that is believed to be a fair representative of what may eventually become the retail product. With the understanding that some features may be added, removed, or modified prior to the release, we give you this Flaming Cliffs 3 preview article which is simply a non-critical look at the features that may be included in the retail release. As usual, all material is subject to change, and all errors in content and facts are the author’s and the author’s alone. A note of disclosure that Chris is a beta tester for Eagle Dynamics and Flaming Cliffs 3.
IntroductionThe Digital Combat Simulator juggernaut continues. I have to admit, it is actually becoming difficult to stay abreast of the latest news with regards to Eagle Dynamics and their modular based DCS World product line-up. Obviously we’ve already seen theDCS World base module evolve. DCS World is free and includes the fully flyable Su-25T "Frogfoot".The DCS World Su-25T "Frogfoot"Other DCS modules to purchase (at this time) include the A-10C Warthog, Black Shark 2 (Ka-50), P-51D Mustang, and Combined Arms. Additional modules by third party vendors have been announced and will be filtering into DCS World over the coming months and years. The first of the third party aircraft for DCS World will be the UH-1H Huey. Look for it to be available soon. This preview will give a brief overview of what is planned to be included, but is not exhaustive, all-inclusive, or a guarantee of the content that will make it in the retail version. After the retail release of Flaming Cliffs 3 a detailed review article, including in-depth analysis and commentary, will be published by SimHQ.The Flaming Cliffs 3 Main MenuPlanesIn a nutshell, FC3 is intended to import legacy Flaming Cliffs content into DCS World while also improving on the content, updating it in many areas, and adding functionality in several ways. The lineup brings the following LOMAC / Flaming Cliffs aircraft into DCS World.Included are the A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25, Su-25T, and the F-15C.A-10A "Warthog"Su-27 "Flanker"F-15C "Eagle"The F-15C CockpitThe cockpit for the F-15C has undergone a massive upgrade. The F-15C now has much higher definition and 6DoF implementation. While the F-15C has seen a number of avionics changes / improvements, there may also be some in store for the Russian aircraft.

Other CockpitsMany of the other plane cockpits are improved with higher definition instrumentation, labels, and avionics. Cockpits are not "clickable".There is updated and improved HUD operation and other systems are included for various aircraft.

与DCS World的集成

DCS World IntegrationFC3 integration into DCS World (which having witnessed the process involved is not an easy copy-and-paste might I add) finally brings fast jets into DCS World albeit without the ultra-hard core avionics and systems modeling of single aircraft modules like the Ka-50, P-51D, and A-10C. For fans of the original LOMAC / Flaming Cliffs titles, flying these updated aircraft in the upgraded DCS World is a real treat. HDR lighting, soft shadowing, and all of the upgraded atmospheric effects and graphics that are part of DCS World significantly enhance the FC3 experience.Explosions, clouds, smoke, fire, cannon effects, etc, that are part of the DCS World base module now integrate with FC3 aircraft as if they had been created for it all along. The laundry list of items that the integrated FC3 / DCS World improves on is too long to list and probably somewhat subjective, but things like upgraded theater-wide objects mean that adversaries you fought against in prior versions of LOMAC / Flaming Cliffs now look better, explode better, and perform differently.

Thankfully the beauty is more than skin deep since the integration with DCS World means interoperability with Combined Arms, and a much more powerful mission editor with far more advanced features than what the legacy LOMAC / FC titles contained. In multiplayer, the host decides which aircraft to include in their missions — that is the decision of the mission designer. FC3 aircraft do not need to be mixed with DCS aircraft.FC3 will ship with single missions for each aircraft type, quick missions, and a completely new F-15C campaign. FC3 also adds the eastern Georgia map, a fast mission generator, improved AI, several new and improved AI air, land, and sea units, dynamic weather, a resource manager, and several new, or improved airbases.

FC3 aircraft have a less mechanical feeling on takeoff and landing giving a more realistic overall feeling. DCS World components such as lighting halos, HDR lighting, and higher resolution ground textures, clutter, and scenery add to the FC3 experience in both stark and subtle ways.FC3 aircraft have a less mechanical feeling on takeoff and landingAdvanced flight dynamics for missiles has been added which should improve the performance / realism of FC3 aircraft ordnance.Advanced flight dynamics for missilesDue to the licensing arrangements with Ubisoft that are still in effect, users will be required to have an authentic copy of the original Lock On Modern Air Combat (LOMAC) in order to utilize FC3 content. There are downloadable versions of LOMAC available on Amazon published by Ubisoft for $9.99 USD. Those pilots that retained their original Lock On CD-ROM will be able to use it to authorize FC3content.Flaming Cliffs 3 will have the same minimum and suggested system requirements as DCS World. Those requirements are available hereat the DCS web site.Based on the latest information from Eagle Dynamics, the release date should be sometime in the next several weeks. SimHQ looks forward to presenting a full and comprehensive review of Flaming Cliffs 3 for DCS World when it is released in final version.
