海葬

海葬对于每一个参加过美国海军的士兵来说都是很高的荣誉。上至海军上将，下至在海军服务过的军犬都有权力享受这一崇高的荣誉。在过去，海葬是葬尸；现在，海葬是葬骨灰。老兵在死亡后可以根据遗嘱举行海葬仪式，阵亡或事故失望的士兵也根据本人或家属的要求举行相应的仪式。仪式都是在海军舰艇上举行，有海军仪仗队执行，仪式内容包括鸣枪21响，吹安息号，撒骨灰，海军代表接受折叠成三角型的国旗。家属一般不能参加仪式，除非是子女或父母在军队服役的直系亲属可以参加。在仪式完毕后，不能参加仪式的家属接受国旗，海葬坐标和录象。海葬可以单独举行，也可以集体举行，在一些情况下以前在同一艘军舰服役情深谊长的退役老兵还要求进行合葬。去世的老兵都希望回到自己服役的军舰被埋葬。去年每国前总统福特去世，虽然根据遗嘱葬在了自己的出生的地方。但是由于福特总统在第二次世界大战中在海军服役，所以在运送遗体的过程中海军接管”空军一号“，整个葬礼过程由海军负责。下面一组图，反映不同海葬的仪式。有葬军犬的，有为珍珠港事件中幸存的老兵举行的仪式，还有儿子参加父亲的海葬等等。
